  2. As he heads out on tour, Dierks Bentley remembers the climb that took his career Mountain High D ierks Bentley kicks off his Mountain High tour tonight in Columbia, Maryland, and the "Woman, Amen" hitmaker can't help but remember some of the difficult times before he became one of country's biggest acts. "I've been doing this for a long time," the Arizona native recalls "I had, like, three years of trying to headline tours, playing these big arenas that hold 25,000 people and only 2,500 showed up...Every review was like, 'Bless his heart. He was playing like it was a sold-out show, but no one came.' [So] this feels like a second career almost, and a second chance." Now, with hit records and successful business ventures, Dierks says touring these days is about a lot more than just selling tickets. "I've already got a lot of great stuff going on," he says candidly. "I've got a 9-year-old, a 7-year-old, and a 4-year-old. It's not about making money, it's about my life. I want to have a great summer, have a lot of fun, make great memories, [and] be totally present from the second we get there on site." Having Brothers Osborne and LANCO on the road with him is part of the fun for Dierks. "You want to spend that summer with people you want to be around," he explains. "And obviously, it'd be nice if that's people that also are having success in their career and can help sell tickets and all that. You're always trying to find that [equation] where one plus one equals three -- where a group of people come together and their sum is greater than their parts." 3. Dierks Bentley reveals late-night Ryman Auditorium concert When Dierks Bentley plays concerts, he’s typically singing No. 1 hits to 20,000 fans. In honor of his new album “The Mountain” that will be in stores June 8, he has something more intimate in mind. Bentley will perform “The Mountain,” his ninth studio album, in its entirety during a late-night concert at Ryman Auditorium June 7. The ticket pre-sale will start Tuesday, and tickets will go on sale to the public 10 a.m. Friday at Dierks.com and through Ticketmaster. Proceeds will be donated to The Opry Trust Fund. “When you put a new album out there, you just want to sing those songs,” said Bentley, who will launch his The Mountain High Tour on Friday. “I’m getting ready to go play for … lots of people and I know what they want, they want the hits. You only have a few (new) songs you can squeeze into your set list that feels comfortable for me and feels right for them. But I want to play them all live. The idea was to play the Ryman, which is my favorite place, during CMA Music Fest week, and just do the album top to bottom.” With 17 No. 1 songs to his credit, Bentley is known for hits including “Drunk on a Plane,” “Somewhere on a Beach,” “I Hold On” and “Different for Girls.” “The Mountain” is a seamless blend of Bentley’s contemporary country work and his critically acclaimed bluegrass album “Up on the Ridge.” The collection, he said, is more gratitude and fewer ditties. “It was a dark year in country music last year,” said Bentley, who started recording “The Mountain” in Colorado last year. “I needed those mountains. I needed that air. I needed that elevation. I feel like I made a record that was inspired by the mountains that fans are climbing in their personal lives and their perseverance. Then just being physically around those mountains and the way you feel when you’re there, it all came together to make an album that captures my vibe right now.” Bentley said the plan is not without challenges. The “Woman, Amen” singer and his band typically only learn one new song at a time and then slide it into their ready-made set. This time, they must learn 13 new songs. In addition, “The Mountain” features piano, which Bentley said he’s never had on an album before, and “crazy mandolin playing” from Sam Bush. “We’ll have to get him or mimic him somehow,” Bentley said. “It’s a smaller venue so it’s great, just for those hardcore fans who are willing to listen to songs they don’t know and want to hear them. It makes me feel less self-conscious. Knowing we’ll be singing for a room full of people who will be really excited to hear these songs … it’s a pretty cool thing. Info - dierks bentley u.s. tour
  4. Dierks Bentley packs a lunch for a good cause before hitting the road on the Mountain High Tour D ierks Bentley sets his Mountain High Tour in motion Friday but before he hits the road, the Arizona native wanted to do a good deed at home in Middle Tennessee. Dierks, his band, crew and openers LANCO spent Monday packing more than 10,000 pounds of food at Second Harvest Food Bank, as part of the non-profit's Hunger Free Summer campaign. That adds up to more than 8,600 meals that will help feed families in need when school's not in session. “Typically when a tour is a about to launch, you get your band and crew together for some drinks before the run, but I wanted to make sure we did something different this year,” Dierks explains. “We got everyone together to really start off with what it’s all about for me right now: gratitude." "The more we get to do and grow out there on the road," Dierks continues, "the more I want to make it all mean something and Second Harvest is doing great work to make a difference in our community." Brothers Osborne couldn't be along for Monday's outing, as they're just returning from a tour of the U.K. and Ireland. They'll be there Friday, however, when the Mountain High trek launches in Columbia, Maryland. Info - dierks bentley concert denver
  5. Maple Mountain High yearbook page called 'prank' and 'mistake' SPANISH FORK — Students at Maple Mountain High School used some pretty strong words to describe the Red Devils at Springville High School in their yearbook this year. So strong that administrators were forced to take action. "I feel so bad," Anika Broberg, a junior at Maple Mountain High, said Saturday. "I don't want Springville to think we said these words, because it's not true." The page contained a word cloud in the shape of Springville's logo, with one-word descriptions of the school under the heading, "Describe Springville." Words included "snobby," "egotistic," "stupid," "lame," "satanic," "trash," "annoying" and more. Several in the community are outraged about it, but Nebo School District officials say they are working to rectify the problem and the potential issues it might create. "As sometimes happens, students might think something is funny but this definitely is not funny. This is something we take very serious," Lana Hiskey, district community relations specialist, said Saturday. She said a sticker is being created to put over the "inappropriate page" in the books that haven't yet been handed out. About 500 or so books, however, are already in the hands of students. Hiskey said the school will ask that those books be returned to cover the page that she believes did not get approval from advisers on the yearbook staff prior to its printing. "No one saw the page before it went to print," she said, adding that there will be more checkpoints put into place to prevent such an incident from happening again. "We would never condone anything like this," Hiskey said. She said the district is working on various projects, including having T-shirts made that promote unity between the two schools, which stand less than five miles apart in Utah County. "Never have I met anyone who was defined as any of those words," said Kilee Hullinger, a cheerleader and junior at Maple Mountain High School. She said her friends at Springville High School are "fun, loving, compassionate." "It was meant as a prank, but somehow it got through," she said. "They're our friends and our family and that's the words they should be described as, not the words that they were," Kilee said. "I'm sorry those words were said about them." Administrators at both schools met together late Friday after realizing what had happened and are continuing to work at a solution. "We are truly sorry that we have hurt our dear friends and neighbors that we love and respect," wrote the Maple Mountain High School administration. "We acknowledge and accept responsibility for our mistake. We are taking action to resolve the situation and to ensure that something like this doesn't happen in the future." 6. Dierks Bentley's Lunch Speciality Is a Mean PB&J: 'I Can Make Three in Under 30 Seconds' Dierks Bentley isn’t afraid to admit he’s “not a huge foodie,” but he can “make a mean peanut butter and jelly sandwich.” “I mean I am good,” the “Woman, Amen” singer tells PEOPLE. “I can make three in under 30 seconds — evenly spread the peanut butter and jelly. I do that professionally as a father for my kids.” The father of three — daughters Evie, 9 and Jordan, 7, and son Knox, 4 — says despite owning a new restaurant in Nashville called Whiskey Row, he doesn’t cook much in his own house beyond PB&J, spaghetti and microwavable pizza, which makes up about 80 percent of his diet. Although the “I Hold On” singer does own the tools for cooking, like a Big Green Egg Barbecue Cooker (“It’s a little moldy inside there,” he jokes), he prefers not to put that much effort into his meals. The star used to “go crazy” with White Castle and Taco Bell, but says he no longer eats fast food. The 42-year-old country star moved to Nashville 25 years ago, and, in true southern fashion, raves over barbecue. The “Drunk on a Plane” singer, who has often found himself swept up watching barbecue cook-offs and documentaries, says his go-to plate is full of barbecue ribs from Martin’s Bar-B-Que in Nashville. 13. TRUE LOVE Who are BTS, what was their Billboards 2018 performance and what are the lyrics to new single ‘Fake Love’? Who are BTS, what was their Billboards 2018 performance and what are the lyrics to new single 'Fake Love'? FOR too long, Psy held a monopoly over the international fame of South Korean pop musicians – but boy band BTS helped change that. The seven strong group avoid embarrassing dance routines and nonsense lyrics to create infectious tunes that fans the world over can’t get enough of – here’s everything you need to know about the band. Who are BTS and where are they from? BTS are a pop music boy band from South Korea – the name is an acronym for the Korean phrase Bangtan Sonyeondan which translates to ‘Bulletproof Boy Scouts’ (although they are also known as Bangtan Boys and have adapted their BTS name to also stand for ‘Beyond The Scene’). Formed in 2013, the group have released six studio albums – three in Korean and three in Japanese – with their 2016 album, Wings reaching number 62 in the UK charts, their 2018 album, Face Yourself, reaching number 78, and 2017 EP, Love Yourself: Her, reaching number 14. BTS Already Broke Records With Their New Album, 'Love Yourself: Tear Massively successful K-pop group BTS released Love Yourself: Tear today, their third Korean-language studio album (and sixth overall). If the rapturous response to the band’s previous albums serves as any indication, BTS will have a massive global hit on their hands, one that furthers their quest for world domination. BTS first announced Love Yourself: Tear on April 14 to feverish excitement. Pre-orders became available on April 18, and in the first six days of the pre-order period, Love Yourself: Tear sold a record 1.44 million copies in South Korea. 19. What did BTS perform at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards? BTS took to the stage of the Billboard Music Awards, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday 20 May 2018. The group gave a barnstorming performance of their mixed Korean-English single Fake Love – to the joy of the live audience. The lads weren’t just there to show off their dance moves and belt out their lyrics – they were picking up an award too. BTS scooped the coveted Top Social Artist award which was voted for by fans (and may have been an easy win as the group are the most tweeted about celebrities of 2017 garnering over half a billion mentions and gaining more tweets that President Donald Trump and Justin Bieber combined).
